About Us

Upton Architecture is a woman owned full service architectural firm located in Kensington, Maryland. The firm was established in 2008. Margaret Gaughan Upton, a graduate of the Catholic University of America, is a registered architect. She is AIA registered, NCARB Certified and a LEED-Accredited Professional. Originally registered in the District of Columbia, she has designed and managed projects throughout the United States. Ms. Upton has successfully designed projects including single family residential, multi-family residential, continuing care retirement communities, educational facilities and commercial projects. Her extensive work in renovation and historic preservation and her concern for the future of our environment has created a natural progression to "green" building design. Margaret became certified by the Green Building Council as a LEED Accredited Professional in 2008.
